Some people mistake this color as fawn. The cream color is achieved by the presence of the Blue Dilution or D gene in the homozygous recessive form (dd). It dilutes brown eumelanin to blue, and red to cream. This recessive gene has a diluting effect on both eumelanin (black/brown) and phaeomelanin (red/yellow). |
