Melody Ferrill is an artist, wife and mother of two.  She and Ken, her husband, live on a small ranch south east of Queen Creek, Arizona - with five Kelpies, four Australian Shepherds, five horses, one hundred sheep, thirty head of cattle, fifty ducks and nine goats.

Melody's  interests include drawing, training and trialing their dogs, horseback riding, sewing and crafts of all kinds.  She also volunteers in her daughter's third grade class.

Melody can't remember when she started drawing as it was always fun.  She used to make paper dolls for her friends at school. In high school she won a first place gold key at a scholastic art contest.  After she married she didn't have time to draw, putting it all away for thirty years.  Now she has time to do anything. and she's having a ball.

About these fine sketches

OLD EYES

Cowgirl. This is Melody when she was about eighteen. Having just dismounted from her horse, her dad took this photograph. It has long been one of her favorite photographs.

Old Eyes.  Melody is part Indian. The eyes of this elder Native American remind her of her Grandma Lucy Staggs.

John Wayne.  He has always been a favorite of Melody.
